She RAN! But behind her she could hear Two shoes go CLOMP, Clomp, One pair of pants go WIGGLE, WIGGLE, One shirt go SHAKE, SHAKE, Two gloves go CLAP, CLAP, One hat go NOD, NOD, And one scary pumpkin head go BOO, BOO! Moving books is hard work! This morning a kindergartener delivered a crate full of book returns from his classroom. He was huffing and puffing and after setting it down, he looked at me and said, "Good thing I worked out this morning!"
We have been reading They all Saw a Cat by Brendan Wenzel. The cat wears a bell. I asked students why people might put a bell on their cat's collar. Here are a few of their answers: ...it's so you know it's lost...the man mowing the lawn will hear the bell and won't run over it...so you can find it...so it looks pretty...if your grandma is baking something, she'll know if the cat runs away...if the cat wants a book or a snack, it can ring the bell so you bring it to him...bells make it happy...! I let them know that a bell can also warn birds and mice that the cat is about to pounce on them! |
